EVP Guidelines With Adobe Audition

August 21st, 2008

I am going to describe techniques for EVP experimentation, which I find have worked successfully for me. During the past six months, by researching EVP mainly on weekends and some evenings, I have managed to record hundreds of EVPs from a variety of locations many of which are not even reputed to be haunted. A site does not require a haunted reputation in order for you to acquire EVPs from it. I refer to EVPs as “utterances” due to their chopped, fast and usually very brief nature. EVP experimentation should not be approached lightly. Those who view EVP as a form of weekend entertainment will probably end up wasting their time. A friend told me they knew someone who had lost all interest in EVPs when they discovered they were unable to call up a minor demon. Those who are emotionally unstable ought not to experiment. Also, if your heart is not into it, save your research for another time rather than going through the motions mechanically asking questions without expressing or investing any emotional interest.

Video Surveillance, automatic motion detection software + team work

August 21st, 2008

After watching many (too many) hours of video In which nothing was happening except for the occasional orb (dust) that floats by and the passerby investigator who smiles at the camera, I decided to check out some automatic video motion detection capturing software. This software reviews surveillance video automaticaly and creates files containing motions starting a few seconds before the event occurred and ending after the motion ceases. I’ve tested about six programs that do this type of editing and found one that I feel that will meet our needs.  This software will do the work of looking for scenes that contain some movement, be it dust, an investigator walking by, shadows, etc.  I will have sample video of the results of this automatic editing at the next meeting.

Spiritualist Churches

August 21st, 2008

I noticed at the last meeting that many of you were unfamiliar with Spiritualist Churches, and as they are somewhat relevant to the work we do, I thought I’d post a short write-up on the topic. I cribbed some of this from Wikipedia,. The rest is based on my experience as a church organist at a Spiritualist church in Exeter NH, my occasional attendance at Spiritualist churches in Watertown and Brookline, and my having taught a course on cults at several traditionalist churches.

An Academic View of Orbs

Is This the Proof that Spirits do Exist?

From: http://www.healthywealthynwise.com/article.asp?Article=5316

Oct 1, 2007 There is no doubt in my mind that the orbs may well be one of the most significant ‘outside of this reality’ phenomena mankind has ever witnessed.” — Klaus Heinemann, Ph.D. At first, it seemed no more than a curious coincidence. Professor Klaus Heinemann, a former researcher for NASA, the U.S. space agency, was studying a collection of photographs his wife had taken at a gathering of spiritual healers when he noticed that many of them featured the same pale but clearly defined circle of light, like a miniature moon, hovering above some of the subjects. Like most rational people, he assumed that the pictures were faulty. ‘I presumed the circles were due to dust particles, flash anomalies, water particles and so on,’ says Prof Heinemann. ‘But I was sufficiently intrigued that I returned to the room in which the pictures were taken, in the hope of finding an explanation – like a mirror in the background. None was forthcoming.’ Nor could he find any faults with his wife’s camera.
